Whoopsie Daisies!

July 11, 2009

Two mornings ago while getting ready for work and watching Sportscenter, I caught the news that Michael Phelps had broken another world record. What?

This blog was started because of the Olympics. And swimming particular. And the US National Championships start, and we missed out! Oh no! Hilariously enough, I sent Celisse an article five days ago about Jason Lezak passing up on the Nationals to participate in the Maccabiah Games in Israel.

“This is a very serious athletic competition that shares another purpose and that’s to bring together worldwide Jewry,” Ron Carner, chairman of the U.S. teams, said at a news conference with Lezak.

Good luck, Lezak!

This brings us back to Nationals.

Aaron Peirsol set a new world record in the 100 M backstroke, and per usual, he did it shirtless instead of in full body suit.

APTOPIX US Nationals Swimming

Eric Shanteau set a new American record in the 200m breast stroke. Michael Phelps dropped out of the 100m free because of a sore neck. Dara Torres is swimming really well despite limping around with a bad knee that’ll need surgery later this summer.

And they’ll be airing a few things later this afternoon on NBC! Today and tomorrow. Catch it! I know I will.
