The Where Are They Now? James Marsters Edition

October 6, 2009

As I watched one of my newer favorite shows, Lie to Me, last night, something dawned on me around minute 46 or so. That older prosecutor who is vaguely reminding me of Wayne Jarvis is JAMES MARSTERS?

I mean, SPIKE FROM BUFFY. The Californian with the spotless British accent and the bleached hair and the was actually way, way older than the rest of the cast (sans Giles) during filming has finally started to look his age. He’s 47. Those cheekbones have filled in a bit. And prosecutors don’t bleach their hair.

Oh, James.

In other news, everyone should be watching Lie to Me. Because it’s enjoyable and wonderful and Tim Roth is amazing.

I wasn’t quite sure what you were getting at saying that James is “finally started to look his age. He’s 47.” I personally think as this man gets older he gets better looking. I think he is Gorgeous. Those blue eyes. That curly head of hair. I know a few 47 year olds and younger who look nothing like their age. In fact they look older. They have Pot bellies, receding hairlines and wrinkles. Lets face it, Jame is not a real vampire so he is going to get older, just like the rest of us. But he’s looking good doing it. And he is an amazing actor.

As for the show, I only watched because of him. They WAY underused him. Why do they need to have two story lines? Why not concentrate on one storyline, this why it doesn’t feel so rushed in the end. The show did not turn me into a fan. Sorry, My honest opinion.

    Thank you for your time,

    Amy Sue

      Amy Sue,

Thanks for the comment. A lot of people have criticized that about Lie to Me – that there should only be one story line instead of breaking it up into two. I can see where it’s kind of annoying, but I like it.

And I have nothing against James Marsters. It was just shocking to me, because he always managed to look much younger than his age, and now he looks his age. He doesn’t necessarily look BAD, it just really shocked me that he’s changed so much that it took me until the last scene of the episode to even recognize him.

      That’s all! 🙂

My guess is that you don’t watch Smallville, Torchwood, Numb3rs, Without a Trace and haven’t seen the films P.S. I love you, High Plains Invaders, Moonshot. Because James has been in those in his non-bleached hair looking very much as he did in Lie to Me.

No he doesn’t look like he did in Buffy which ended 7 years ago, but damn he looks GOOD for his ages! If that’s what 47 looks like then sign me up!

Note to self: Never, ever say anything even vaguely negative about James Marsters. Ever.

Even though I always thought he was old and weird lookin’ SHRUG.

He is not weird looking. He’s very handsome and for his age he still has that quality about him that makes him so very appealing. Beauty is not just perfect teeth, skinny ass physiques or flawless skin. It is a warm smile, a good heart, and the ability to make people feel good with what you do and who you are…and that’s James.

No offense meant, but not everyone is gonna agree with your personal preference of what’s attractive in a man. James Marsters has never been my cuppa tea. That doesn’t make my opinion wrong, just different from yours.

I agree with the others. There aren’t many 47 year olds that look that good. Again, personal opinion.

chica, i’m not sure i get the point of this article.

actors are SUPPOSED to be able to change their looks and accents for roles. is Marsters supposed to turn up at every acting gig with Spike’s bleached hair?

the second photo above shows a very attractive man who looks believable as an attorney.

Nowhere in this post does it say that actors aren’t supposed to change their looks and accents for roles, dudes. The writer isn’t a 5 year old — she understands how acting works. If you’ll read through the comments, she already explained what she meant.

Seriously, guys. I realize you’re all coming from the same — undoubtedly amazing — James Marsters Yahoo Fan Group, but uh, lets cool it with the repetitive foaming at the mouth.
