Bring On the Controversy, London!

July 26, 2012

The 2012 Olympics haven’t even started yet, and we’ve already got our first controversy! Okay, more like 23rd considering all of the security issues and we won’t get started on the Brits raging out over their transportation issues.

Women’s soccer (or football, to be nice to the home country) began yesterday, with USA killing it, naturally. North Korea, on the other hand, came close to not even playing after the wrong flag was displayed to present its players.

After the game North Korea’s coach, Ui Gun-sin, said that winning their match 2-0 did not compensate for the mix-up. Ui said: “The national flag difference is a big problem. Our team was not going to participate unless the problem was solved properly. Unfortunately it took some time later for the broadcast [on the big screen] to be done again properly and we made the decision to go on with the match.”

When asked for comment, Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte said this:

A lot of the women’s and men’s footie matches aren’t even sold out, so there were probably about 14 people on hand. Oh, London.
